Chartered Accountants Serving Kent

Comprehensive accounting and tax services across the county of Kent

Kent is our county and our entire practice is built around it. From our Rochester base we act for businesses, landlords and individuals from Dartford and the Thames-side towns across to Canterbury, Ashford and the coast — one chartered firm covering the Garden of England.

One firm for the whole county

Kent's economy is really several economies. The north-west corridor along the A2 and HS1 — Dartford, Gravesend, Medway — runs on construction, logistics and London commuters. Mid-Kent around Maidstone and Ashford mixes professional services with genuine agriculture: the orchards, hop gardens and now vineyards that earned the Garden of England its name. The east — Canterbury, Thanet, the coastal towns — leans on tourism, education and a fast-growing creative sector.

We act for clients in every one of those Kents. The common thread isn't geography, it's the kind of client: owner-managed companies, landlords and property investors, farming and rural families, and individuals whose tax affairs have outgrown DIY self-assessment.

County-wide specialisms

Three strands of work bring clients to us from right across Kent. Property tax first: the county's landlords face the same interest-relief, incorporation and capital-gains questions whether their portfolio is in Dartford or Deal, and it's our deepest specialism. Second, rural and agricultural work — diversification income, agricultural property relief and succession planning for the county's farming families. Third, owner-managed business advice: the accounts-tax-payroll-VAT bundle done properly, plus honest counsel at the decision points.

How a county-wide practice actually works

Cloud accounting makes geography irrelevant for the day-to-day: whether you're in Sevenoaks or Sandwich, we see the same live Xero, QuickBooks or FreeAgent data you do, and meetings happen by video at times that suit you. For the conversations that deserve a table — succession, sale, restructuring — we'll come to you anywhere in the county, or you're welcome at our Rochester office just off the M2.

Our Rochester office

Our single office is at Unit 7 Kenden Business Park, Maritime Close, Medway City Estate, Rochester, Kent, ME2 4JF — deliberately just off the M2/A2 corridor, so it's reachable from most of Kent within forty-five minutes, with free parking on site. But for clients beyond the Medway area the relationship is remote-first by design: video calls, cloud bookkeeping and secure document sharing as standard, and we travel to you when a meeting genuinely needs to happen at your kitchen table or your premises.

Frequently Asked Questions

You're in Rochester — can you genuinely act for a business in, say, Canterbury or Ashford?
Yes, and we already do. Cloud bookkeeping means we work from the same live data wherever you are in Kent, meetings run by video, and documents move securely online. For the big conversations we travel — anywhere in the county — or you can come to us just off the M2. Distance simply isn't the constraint it was ten years ago.
Do you understand Kent's rural and farming businesses?
Rural Kent is a meaningful part of our practice. We advise on agricultural property relief, the tax treatment of diversification — vineyards, weddings, glamping, solar — farmhouse expense apportionment, and the succession planning that every farming family eventually needs. It's specialist work, and we treat it that way.
My rental properties are spread across different Kent towns — is that a problem?
Not at all — it's common among our landlord clients. A portfolio spanning, say, Gravesend, Maidstone and Folkestone is handled as one picture: one set of records, one view of financing and interest relief, one incorporation analysis, and coordinated capital-gains planning when you sell. Property tax across Kent is our single deepest specialism.
Whereabouts do your Kent clients actually come from?
The heaviest concentration is naturally Medway and the towns within half an hour of us — Rochester, Chatham, Gillingham, Maidstone, Sittingbourne — but we act for clients from Dartford in the west to the east-coast towns. The further away you are, the more the relationship runs on video and cloud tools, and clients tell us they honestly can't feel the difference.

Why an independent local accountant still beats the big groups

The local accountancy landscape is consolidating fast, and many clients of newly acquired firms are noticing the difference: higher fees, less partner time, advice shaped by group targets. Independence lets a firm work differently. Here's what that means in practice — and how easy switching really is.
